To operate they had to almost completely remove the womb and after complicated but successful surgery, the doctors returned to it. After ten weeks of gestation was finally born and now a month old , is now at home with his family.
Chad and Keri McCartney decided to call his name Hope ( Hope) to his small , the fifth daughter of this marriage who , after an ultrasound, they found a very large tumor when she was 6 months pregnant. Doctors at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston warned the couple that surgery was very risky for Macie and Keri , and was only 10 percent successful .
This situation did not discourage parents who decided to do his best to save the baby.
Dr. Darrell Cass , the surgeon who did the operation and so managed to save the life of Macie Hope, told the Today Show on NBC how complicated the operation of four hours.
The doctor and his team had to use much more anesthetic than normal to prevent the uterus react as if the pregnancy were terminated. After finding the right not to affect the placenta instead , opened the uterus and carefully took 80 percent of the body of Macie . Quickly removed the tumor, placed back into the uterus to Macie and accurately closed to prevent the escape of amniotic fluid.
Fortunately there were no complications , the baby was ten weeks gestated and born on May 3 .
